Visitors can see fossils excavated in Iwaki City and large skeletal specimens such as those of the Dipterocarpus suzukiryu in a dynamic space. The museum also recreates the history of coal mining and life in the mines from the time when the Joban coal field prospered to the present day.
As soon as visitors enter the entrance, they are greeted by a fossil, the Futabasuzukiryu, a representative Japanese fossil discovered in Iwaki City. This was discovered by high school students in the city. It has become a landmark in the history of paleontological research in Japan.

The Study Specimen Exhibition Room is a place where visitors can learn about the earth of Iwaki, fossils of living creatures, coal, rocks, and other specimens and panels are on display.
The simulated mine tunnel is a space that makes visitors feel as if they have entered a coal mine. Materials related to coal mining are also on display.
