Photographer Shotaro Akiyama visited this flower park every year and praised it as a “peach paradise” in Fukushima. This privately owned park was created over 40 years by a flower and tree farmer who wanted many people to see his beautiful flowers.
Hanamiyama Park is one of Fukushima Prefecture’s most popular tourist attractions, attracting many visitors from all over the country every year. Photographer Shotaro Akiyama introduced the park to the rest of the country, praising it as “Fukushima has a peach garden,” and the city of Fukushima became known as a nationally renowned flower spot.
The area is dotted with flower and tree farmers, and Hanamiyama Park in particular was opened to the public on privately owned land in 1959 with the hope that many people would see the beautiful flowers, and has been passed down from generation to generation.
The beautiful scenery of Hanamiyama Park and its surrounding area is woven with colorful flower and tree fields, clean streams, and the original landscape of the village by the community of flower and tree farmers in the Watari area of Fukushima City.
In spring, about 70 kinds of flowers including plum blossoms, Japanese apricots, cherry blossoms, lentils, bokeh, and magnolias bloom, and the entire mountain is tinted pale pink.
On fine days, visitors can also enjoy views of the Azuma mountain range and the Adatara Federation.
When the snow on Azuma Kofuji begins to melt, remaining snow in the shape of rabbits can be seen on the surface of the mountain, providing a “snow rabbit on Mt. Also, from the summit, a view of downtown Fukushima can be seen through the blooming flowers.
Volunteer guides called “Fukushima Flower Guides” are available in the park to show visitors around the flowers and other attractions.

During the cherry blossom season (end of March to mid-April), traffic regulations will be enforced in the surrounding areas to ease traffic congestion. During the restricted period, please use the temporary parking lot (Abukuma Shinsui Park) or pay parking lots near Fukushima Station and take the temporary bus “Hanamiyama-go”.
