Mt. Adatara

Adatara is the main peak of the Adatara mountain range and is commonly referred to as Nyukubuyama. It is famous for Chieko Sho. It takes about 5 hours from the Ishihato-Matu trailhead. Altitude: 1,700m

Adatara, the leader of the Adatara Volcanoes, is a rugged mountain with a vast view from its summit. One of several Adatara-yama climbing courses, there are two access points from the Inawashiro direction: the Numajiri trailhead and the Yokomukai Onsen trailhead.

Mt. Adatara is one of the active volcanoes and has been selected as one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan, one of the 100 most famous mountains in New Japan, and one of the 100 most famous mountains for flowers. Overall, it is a gentle mountain with a ropeway running from the Okudake trailhead, and is considered relatively easy to climb even for beginners. The summit of the mountain is gentle, but there is a small rocky peak protruding from the peak, which is the origin of the alias “Nipple Mountain.

Yakushidake Panorama Park, just a short walk from the ropeway’s summit station, is a great spot for viewing the autumn leaves. The contrast between the carpet of fiery autumn leaves and the clear blue sky of the “real sky” is spectacular.
